The Fine Arts Department at Bishop Luers is founded on the rich artistic traditions of the Church. Our nationally recognized art programs help students fine tune technical and performance skills, foster creativity, encourage cooperation, build confidence, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Bishop Luers High School has a nationally ranked show choir and is home to the longest-running Show Choir Invitational in the nation! Director Kris Andorfer hosted the first ever 50th Show Choir Invitational in the nation at Bishop Luers this past Spring.

Theater

The Bishop Luers Performing Arts Theater Department, directed by Karlene Krouse, offers many ways for students to express their talent!

Bishop Luers has three productions per school year, a Fall Play, Christmas Musical, and Spring Musical. Audition times are posted in the Performing Arts hallway for students who want to participate. For those who do not want to perform, there are also opportunities to help as a stage crew member.

Band

The Bishop Luers Band does it all! Directed by Adam Hanke, students perform in a Christmas and Spring Concert each year, as well as at Pep Sessions. The Pep Band also provides music for football and basketball games.

Band Visits to Feeder Schools

The BLHS Pep Band visits feeder schools and performs several songs for students, including the BLHS fight song. Go Knights!

St. Cecilia Honor Band

Bishop Luers High School partners with Bishop Dwenger High School for our annual St. Cecilia Honor Band program! Students from both high schools meet for a day of instruction with professional musicians, then perform a concert in the evening. The Bishop Luers Art Program provides many ways for students to express their artistic talent. 2D Art, 3D Art and Graphic Design are offered as courses for students.

HOME OF THE LONGEST RUNNING SHOW CHOIR INVITATIONAL IN THE NATION! Bishop Luers is proud to be the place where high school swing choir competition began more than 45 years ago...In January of 1975 the Minstrels, the swing choir at Bishop Luers High School, conceived the idea of organizing and hosting a swing choir contest.

Each Show Choir Member is required to fundraise $400 as part of their show choir fees. Monies raised supports the operating expenses of the Invitational and equipment costs for Show Choir.
